Location

Uluwatu is located on the south-western tip of Bali in Badung Regency. The House is located about 500 metres to the Ulus steps and across the road from the Gong Surf Shop, Hotel and Local Restaurant.

Uluwatu Sightseeing

The Uluwatu Temple, one of Bali’s most spectacular temples set high on a cliff affording sensational views over the Indian Ocean, especially at sunset, is only a 5 minute drive from the House. The Pura Luhur Temple is a kayangan jagat (directional temple) that guards Bali from evil spirits. Uluwatu Temple is open only to Hindu worshippers although you can visit the rest of the temple complex which is open daily. The temple is famous for its visually spectacular Kecak Dance (monkey dance) performances held in the evenings around sunset (6-7pm) and a resident gang of monkeys. Tickets for the Kecak dance cost Rp50,000 and performances last about an hour.

The main Uluwatu beach is a mere 10 minutes stroll from the House. Uluwatu beaches are world-renowned for their surf breaks and shuttle buses operate between Kuta andUluwatu surf locations.

There is a 5 star resort called Blue Point where people can pay approx. US$15 for the privilege of spending the day there with lunch and a drink included. Blue Point Bay Spa Resort is right on the Uluwatu cliff top overlooking the famous surf break at Uluwatu and the views and pool are absolutely amazing. They also have a day spa for you to completely indulge yourself. Blue Point is only a 5 minute drive from the accommodation.

About Bali

Near to the Airport is the main shopping areas of Kuta and Legian, so if guests want to do a days shopping it would be about 45 minutes each way from Tanah at Ulus accommodation at Uluwatu.

Basically anything can be arranged in Bali – usually for a small price.

Wine & Dine

Basic Balinese food can be bought across the road from the Villa at the Gong café or alternatively a 5 star meal is available at Blue Point Bay Villa Resort nearby, or there are 3 and 4 star restaurants (nice and casual and cheap) within a 10 minute drive from the Villa.

We suggest when staying at Uluwatu accommodation guests stop at the large supermarket (15-mins. from the accommodation by car) on their way from the airport at a large supermarket which has fresh fruit and vegies, alcohol, soft drinks, sunscreen and the other usual products obtained from supermarkets. If guests are arriving late they can either arrange for supplies to be there when they arrive or organise a driver the next day to take them to the supermarket.

Shopping in Bali

Bali offers the best shopping and prices in Asia specialising in locally made jewellery, handicrafts, antiques. artefacts and particularly for casual and tailored clothing. Leatherware is one of the local bargains with everything from handbags through to tailor-made leather jackets and coats at unbelievable prices.
